Chelsea Intermediate School Character Counts
Chelsea implements
the Character Counts Program at each grade level throughout the school
year. Character Counts! is the nation's most widely used character education
program, being used in various schools, sports, and civic organizations.
The framework of this program is built on the "Six Pillars of Character"
- Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship.
Chelsea students have already been introduced to the pillars during
the previous school year and will continue to build on these skills,
helping them to become successful adults. The school social worker and
psychologist push into classrooms on a monthly basis to discuss and
incorporate Character Counts! lessons and activities.
In addition, the teachers and school staff are also incorporating the
language and beliefs of Character Counts! into their classes.
Caring is the Pillar of Character for the months of December and January.
Students will be learning different ways to show others that they care.
Caring lessons will be centered on the following discussion points:
caring people are kind to others, caring people express gratitude, caring
people forgive others, caring people help people in need and caring
people are compassionate and show they care.
