WELCOME TO ANCIENT CIVILIZATIONS in 6th Grade!
We will be studying the world's ancient civilizations including Mesopotamia, Egypt, China, India, Greece & Rome.

ALL HOMEWORK is listed on the board for the entire week. IF your child is absent for one day, I will connect with them when they return.

We really hit the ground running and everyone is doing a great job getting familiar with the schedule and coming to class prepared. Below is a quick reminder of my expectations.

BRING TO CLASS EACH DAY
1. Binder with labeled binder tabs
2. Composition book in front pocket of the binder
3. Pencil case with blue, black, red pens, a pencil and three different colored highlighters
4. Textbook when we begin using it
5. A cooperative and respectful attitude
6. Your questions, opinions, and comments for discussion
7. A water bottle if you are thirsty during the day
8. HOMEWORK!

Parents: Thank you for sending in the Ziploc Bags, Wipes, and Kleenx on the first day : )

ABSENCES: Please see me before school, right before lunch or after school so I can work with you individually.

Cell Phone Policy:
o First time phone goes off in class/student is using it during the school day- the teacher takes it and turns it into the office (parents are called- student can pick the phone up at the end of the day)

o Second time phone goes off in class/student is using it during the school day- the teacher takes it and turns it into the office (parents are called and the parents have to pick up the phone)

o Third time phone goes off in class/student is using it during the school day- the teacher takes it and turns it into the office (parents are called and students has to turn the phone in each morning)

Field Trip Policy:
Same as last year, if a student is in academic lunch more than 5 times in the 4th quarter that student will not be eligible to go on their end of the year field trip.


If you are bored, practice your keyboarding skills using correct finger placement on the "home row". I added a cool link for you!

Our mission is to create enlightened citizens who are able to critically investigate historical events in order to interpret their significance on society and bridge the past, present, and future through informed decision making.

Lascaux Cave/What can we learn about prehistoric people from the cave paintings and artifacts discovered?
HOMEWORK: Complete the two picture pages from the cave. In class you identified the two pictures and which of the 7 parts of the cave it was located in. For HW you need to get a picture, and using the historian's /archaeologists notes, explain the significance of the picture. What tools were used to create it? What pigments were used? The picture helps us understand...... Be as creative as you like and feel free to gather additional information from other reliable sources.
Pencil Case: pens, pencils, RED pen/marker, Three different color highlighters.

BRING TO CLASS EACH DAY: Binder, composition book, pencil case, assignment notebook and a great attitude!
