Spirit Day Activities:

5-30-17 (Tuesday) is Crazy Hair Day

5-31-17 (Wednesday) is Beach Day and our Marble Jar Party for compliments this quarter. The children wanted to have a campout/flashlight party. This is a new one for me! The children are encouraged to bring their flashlights, sleeping bags, etc. We will sing camp fire songs and plan activities. If you have any suggestions, please email me!

6-1-17 (Thursday) is our Tug of War and Color Day. Our class voted to wear red, white, and blue!

6-2-17 (Friday) is our Field Day. The children should wear their "Come Together Day" t-shirt if they ordered it.

6-5-17 (Monday) is "Take Me Out to The Ball Game" Day. Your child is encouraged to wear their jersey or favorite team's jersey.

6-6-17 (Tuesday) is our last day of school. Dismissal is at noon!

E.L.A. :

1. We are learning to ask and answer questions referring explicitly to the text.

2. We will continue to learn about character traits, feelings, and motivations and how they can affect the outcome of a story.

3. We are learning to distinguish our own point of view from that of the narrator or characters in a story.

4. We are using context clues to find the meaning of words.

5. We can identify the main idea and important details.

6. Writer's Workshop focus is on narrative writing and creating our own fairy tale books.

7. We are reading, writing, and sorting words and patterns in Words Their Way.

Math:

1. Our math unit will focus on measurement. We are using a unit of study from the new math program adoption in Eureka. This program will begin officially in 4th grade.

2. Otter Creek is a multiplication/division fact fluency program based on each studentís ability level. We will use Otter Creek daily. It would help if your child practiced at home as well for speed and accuracy.
