Welcome to our classroom webpage!

**Note from the Library**

Parents,
I am looking for volunteers in the Library to assist with re-shelving/organizing books. Additionally, during 'Check In' times, volunteers may be asked to help some students in find where their books should be placed on the shelves.

Any amount of time would be greatly appreciated!

If interested, parents/guardians can contact me at ncanny@fsd157c.org.

Thank you!
Nicole Canny, Librarian

Curriculum preview for the week of December 17, 2018:

ELA: This week we will continue our second unit of study on "Survival." We will be using "The One and Only Ivan" as our novel study in order to practice skills such as identifying words using context clues, inferencing, and making connections with the text. We will also be using nonfiction articles to identify main idea, interpret data presented visually, as well as determining the text structure.

Math: We have started Module 5, which deals with Fractions, primarily equivalency ordering, and operations. This week we will cover lessons 3-7.

I encourage students to go on Zearn at home for reinforcement of the lessons we work on at school.

Writing: Students will continue writing a literary analysis essay.

Science: We are learning about animal adaptations and survival in connection with our ELA unit.

Please check back here often for important dates, announcements, and a preview of curriculum for the week. I also encourage you to sign up for announcements through the Remind App. You can use the link attached below, or text to 81010 and type @94a2cc in the message area. That will get you signed up for reminders and alerts regarding our classroom!

If you ever have any questions or concerns I encourage you to email me at aroney@fsd157c.org or call 815-469-2309, and I will get back to you as soon as I am able.

I'm looking forward to great year ahead!
