Welcome to our classroom webpage!

Please view my webpage for weekly updates.

Invitation Reminder: We never want to have a child feel left out or have their feelings hurt by not receiving an invitation to a party. Even as adults, we know the emotional hurt from being excluded. This is why we highly discourage the passing out of invitations at school. The only exception is if you are inviting the whole class and the invitations are distributed by your child’s teacher. Invitations are never to be distributed by a student or parent. Thank you for your cooperation.

Curriculum preview for the week of May 21, 2018.

We will be continuing Module 7 which focuses on measurement and multiplication. This module deals with converting standard forms of measurement such as quarts to cups, yards to feet, minutes to seconds. This week's lessons include 4-9, which has students solving word problems that involve converting measurements.

Please use the Zearn website to reinforce lessons taught in class. Students have the login info in their assignment notebooks.

ELA: We will be continuing our fourth unit on 'Heroes.' This week we will be taking our Literature Outcome Assessment. This unit be focusing on skills such as describing characters, setting, or events, as well as identifying themes and comparing them with other stories from a variety of cultures. This quarter we will use a number of Greek myths to explore these themes and characters, and our novel for the quarter will be the Lightning Thief.

Writing: We will be starting our Narrative Unit, in which students will create a realistic fiction piece using descriptive detail, dialogue, and character development.

Social Studies: We will be researching our chosen states for our annual state float parade. A letter was sent home explaining what is needed for the state floats. We will be building them at school, so please send in your box and materials by May 18th.
