Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year!

My name is Ms. Draeger and I am a 4th Grade Special Education teacher at Chelsea Intermediate School. This is my fourth year teaching in the Frankfort School District and I am beyond excited to be working here with your student! Invitation Reminder:
We never want to have a child feel left out or have their feelings hurt by not receiving an invitation to a party. Even as adults, we know the emotional hurt from being excluded. This is why we highly discourage the passing out of invitations at school. The only exception is if you are inviting the whole class and the invitations are distributed by your child’s teacher. Invitations are never to be distributed by a student or parent. Thank you for your cooperation.

Week of 4/23 CCSS:

ELA: Our fourth unit is "What Is A Hero?" We will be reading the book titled "Heroes in Training: Poseidon and the Sea of Fury." Students will be working on the following skills: characterization, comparing and contrasting point of view and theme, context clues, inferencing, integrating information from two texts, main idea/details, setting, and text structure.

Essential Questions:

-How does perspective shape a society?
-How is my understanding of texts created?
-Why should I compare different texts?

Writer's Workshop: This quarter we will be focusing on narrative writing.

Math: This week in class students will be working towards achieving the following objectives:

*Mid-Module for Module 5 will be on Tuesday, 4/24 and Wednesday, 4/25 this week.*

-Use visual models to add two fractions with related units using the denominators 2,3,4,5,6,8,10, and 12. (Lesson 21)

-Add a fraction less than 1 to or subtract a fraction less than 1 from a whole number using decomposition and visual models. (Lesson 22)

-Add and multiply unit fractions to build fractions greater than 1 using visual models. (Lesson 23)

-Decompose and compose fractions greater than 1 to express them in various forms. (Lessons 24 and 25)
