Erin's Law:
Governor Pat Quinn signed Erin's Law in January of 2013, which requires all schools in the state of Illinois to provide age appropriate sexual abuse and assault awareness and prevention education programs for their students in grades Pre-K through 12. In response to this legislation, Frankfort School District 157-C will be presenting, "Child Lures Prevention: Think First and Stay Safe", curriculum for the 2017-2018 school year. Our presentations will occur in November and January.

Week of 1/22 CCSS:

ELA: Our third unit is "Perseverance." We will be reading the book titled "R My Name is Rachel." Students will be working on the following skills: characterization, comparing and contrasting point of view, context clues, inferencing, main idea and details, setting, summarizing, and theme.

Essential Questions:

-Why is understanding others' perspectives important?
-What is the value of close reading?
-Why is point of view important to writers and readers?

Writer's Workshop: This week we will be focusing on completing a research simulation task. Students will read two texts, watch a video related to the topic, and then compose a written response based on all the information.

Math: This week in class students will be working towards achieving the following objectives:

-Use place value disks to represent two-digit by one-digit multiplication. (Lesson 7)

-Extend the use of place value disks to represent three and four-digit by one-digit multiplication. (Lesson 8)

-Multiply three and four-digit numbers by one-digit numbers applying the standard algorithm. (Lesson 9)
