Invitation Reminder:
We never want to have a child feel left out or have their feelings hurt by not receiving an invitation to a party. Even as adults, we know the emotional hurt from being excluded. This is why we highly discourage the passing out of invitations at school. The only exception is if you are inviting the whole class and the invitations are distributed by your child’s teacher. Invitations are never to be distributed by a student or parent. Thank you for your cooperation.

Week of 4/16 CCSS:

ELA: Our fourth unit is "What Is A Hero?" We will be reading the book titled "Heroes in Training: Poseidon and the Sea of Fury." Students will be working on the following skills: characterization, comparing and contrasting point of view and theme, context clues, inferencing, integrating information from two texts, main idea/details, setting, and text structure.

Essential Questions:

-How does perspective shape a society?
-How is my understanding of texts created?
-Why should I compare different texts?

Writer's Workshop: This quarter we will be focusing on narrative writing.

Math: This week in class students will be working towards achieving the following objectives:

-Use visuals to add and subtract two fractions with the same units. (Lesson 16)
