Reading
---------------------------------------------
***Please join me during ELA class on Wednesday, November 15th from 9:30-11:00 for Thanksgiving Centers. Hope to see you there!

We will continue to work with identifying story elements of a short text. The students will be exploring the difference between 1st person and 3rd person point of view. We will also be previewing four different biographies and will begin working with those in class.

Math
---------------------------------------------
The students will be counting by 7's to multiply & divide using number bonds. They will be using the distributive property
as a strategy to multiply and divide using units of sixes and sevens. The students will continue to interpret the unknown in multiplication and division to model and solve problems using units of six and seven. By the end of the week we will begin to look at the function of parenthesis and apply those rules to solve problems.

Word Study
---------------------------------------------
The students were given word lists on Monday the 6th. We will work throughout the week on various activities. The next word check will be given on November 14th.

Writing
---------------------------------------------
We are working on our informational writing. The students have chosen their topics and have created a list of subtopics. This week we will be creating a table of contents for our books, will look at academic vocabulary that can be used in our stories, and will begin our introduction of our stories.

***Please send in any books or articles to assist with informational writing by Tuesday, Nov. 14th.

Social Studies
---------------------------------------------
The students will be reading and working with the story,
If You Sailed the Mayflower in 1620. They will be learning what life was like on the Mayflower, how life was in the New World, and will compare it to their lives. We will use this text until Thanksgiving Break.

Don't Forget:
-----------------------------------------------
I look forward to meeting with you during Parent Conferences on the 20th and 21st. If you have not already signed up for conferences, please contact Ms. Puzon at spuzon@fsd157c.org to be added to my conference schedule.
