Welcome to our classroom webpage!

Governor Pat Quinn signed Erin's Law in January of 2013, which requires all schools in the state of Illinois to provide age appropriate sexual abuse and assault awareness and prevention education programs for their students in grades Pre-K through 12. In response to this legislation, Frankfort School District 157-C will be presenting, "Child Lures Prevention: Think First and Stay Safe", curriculum for the 2017-2018 school year. Our presentations will occur in November and January.

Curriculum Overview Week of January 22nd:

Throughout the year, I would like to share an overview of what to expect at the beginning of each week. I will be updating this website weekly to share what we will be doing in class, as well as upcoming due dates and tests. If at any point in the year you have any questions, ideas or concerns please do not hesitate to e-mail or call me!

Math: This week, we will continue working with fractions in Module 5, lessons 14 - 18. We are practicing several strategies to compare fractions including number lines, finding common denominators, tape diagrams and more. I encourage students to be logging in to Zearn at home to reinforce the skills being taught in the classroom!

ELA: We are going to begin our third quarter unit, Perseverance! We will be kicking off this unit by exploring several stories of people overcoming adversity.

Writing Workshop: We will be discussing narrative elements as we begin to prep for the PARCC assessment, which will take place after spring break. The students will be practicing with several PARCC related writing prompts and then we will reflect on their writing to make goals moving forward!

Social Studies: We will continue studying the Midwest Region of the United States. Similar to the first quarter, the students will continue to learn about this region's culture and will also memorize the states, capitals, locations and abbreviations in this region. This has been an exciting unit for the students!

Science - We will continue our study of animal adaptations.
