Ann Baud - Special Education K-2  (Send e-mail)

Welcome to the 2018-19 school year. I am so excited to have the opportunity to work with your child this school year. As we start the school year, the first couple of weeks I will be teaching your child the importance of following our classroom expectations. Communication is very important as a teacher and a parent in the 157c community. I am here to help guide and support you and your child.
You can expect communication daily through our "Daily Communication Sheet." Please remember to view daily, sign and return with any questions, concerns or comments.

We follow the TIGER schedule. Please check your child's general education teacher's webpage for their specials schedule.
Your child will have P.E. daily so remember to have gym shoes available.

As a classroom, we are expected to follow classroom rules and expectations. As we move forward the students will have the opportunity to earn a "Classroom Marble Celebration" as a class. Our students will vote on their goal on how many marbles we need to earn to have a celebration.
**Update***
Whole Class Marble Celebrations:
12/19
We earned our 1st marble. Our new goal is set to earn SEVEN marbles for our next celebration.
****IMPORTANT****
Now that the weather is getting colder please remember to send your child to school with warmer clothes as well as gloves and hats as we will still be having outdoor recess.

Precision Requesting:
12/3
We learned the importance of following directions the first time. We are now working extra hard to earn free play for following directions from the teachers in the classroom.
Example-
"Sit down in your chair." (wait 10 sec. for compliance)
"PLEASE sit down in your chair." (wait 10 sec. for compliance)
"You NEED to sit down in your chair."
(at this time a minute (shape) gets taken away toward the ten minute free play)

Erinís Law 2018-2019

We are required by Erin's Law to provide lessons on sexual abuse and prevention education. During the weeks of November 12th and January 27th, Grand Prairie Elementary School Social Workers will be teaching a lesson during your studentís art class about the "Think First and Stay Safe" program. The lesson in November will cover the concepts of "Using My Built In Computer: Staying Healthy and Safe." The lesson in January will cover "Laws Help Protect Me: Kids Have Rights Too!" and "Listening to My Instincts: No Secrets".

Should your child have any questions, you may refer to the handout that will be provided to them on the day of the lesson. If you have additional questions feel free to contact a School Social Worker Ė Morgan Bilthuis, Nichole Reiser, and Sarah Altobelli.

JANUARY 2019:
Mrs. Kimbrough's maternity substitute is Ms. Emily Gut.

Please take the time to fill out our parent survey that was sent out during parent teacher conferences. Your child has the opportunity to be entered into a drawing to help with announcements.
