Curriculum Update 11/12-11/16
In MATH this week:
We're continuing through Module 3 this week-our focus working more closely with factors, multiples, prime, and composite numbers. We are covering Lessons 23-27 this week.

In WRITING this week:
We will continue to use our mentor text, Fox, to help learn strategies to write a literary analysis. "Growing our ideas" through character analysis and conversation prompts help us to elaborate an idea. We will find a big idea to create a thesis statement and test this thesis with learned strategies.

In READING this week:
We begin our Quarter 2 Unit titled "Survival" and we will examine novels and articles on how people or animals perspective can impact decisions.

We will continue to read the novel "The One and Only Ivan" as our novel study and practice skills such as context clues, inferencing, and using a variety of text to deepen our understanding.

This week we will be assessed on identifying elements of drama, poetry, and prose writing and compare and contrast those elements. Additionally, we will practice and assess on inferencing, using text clues and background knowledge to create our inferences.

In SOCIAL STUDIES this week:
We are working with the Northeast Region and will explore the states, capitals, climate, landforms, people, industries and history. Students will be assessed by the end of the week on states and capitals.
