Governor Pat Quinn signed Erin's Law in January of 2013, which requires all schools in the state of Illinois to provide age appropriate sexual abuse and assault awareness and prevention education programs for their students in grades Pre-K through 12. In response to this legislation, Frankfort School District 157-C will be adding, "Child Lures Prevention: Think First and Stay Safe", curriculum for the school year. The curriculum is available in the school office for parents to preview. Erin's law curriculum will be presented to our students during the week of January 22, 2019.

Curriculum Overview for the week of January 14:
ELA: We are wrapping up the 2nd quarter with some review of the skills and strategies we have been working on. We will be reading different texts to identify the text structure that has been used, and compare that to the text structure of other texts. We will also review theme, character traits, and response to challenges.
We will be using NEWSELA to access current articles and texts in ELA. Our class code is: EEGQPK
MATH: We are starting Module 4, multiplying and dividing fractions and decimals. We will do lessons 4 - 8.
Students have a ZEARN account with a username and password. We use this in class, but students are encouraged to get on at home and practice as well. Our class code is CB2Z9Z
SOCIAL STUDIES: Students will be presenting their explorer power point presentations that they have been working on with a partner.
WRITING: We will begin writing in response to reading, which includes a short focused research simulation. We will learn how to plan and prepare as well as organize our thoughts for writing a short focused essay.
Our class uses Scholastic Book Club and we do a class order once a month. Every order helps to get free books for our classroom! You can order online through this link https://clubs.scholastic.com/ or you can send the money and order form to school with your child.
