Dear parents, guardians and students,
The finish line is in sight! I just want to end the year saying what a pleasure it was having your student in my class this year. We truly had an amazing year and to be honest, the year flew by. Each student worked hard and grew tremendously, and I truly feel they are ready to do great things at Hickory Creek. I'm sure I will run into some of you around town and I can't wait to hear all about the fantastic things you are up to:) Have a great summer and best of luck to everyone at HCMS!!
Please make sure your student comes to school dressed to go outside...weather can change suddenly and unexpectedly. Students will have outdoor recess everyday unless the weather is inclement. In addition, many times students will go outside for PE. Thank you so much:)

Erin's Law Presentations: Governor Pat Quinn signed Erin's Law in January of 2013, which requires all schools in the state of Illinois to provide age appropriate sexual abuse and assault awareness and prevention education programs for students in grades Pre-K through 12. The Chelsea Intermediate School Social Workers will be teaching each lesson in the child’s classroom. The "Think First and Stay Safe" program will be the curriculum utilized for these lessons with a focus on Child Lures.
Birthday Reminder: Birthdays are definitely a special day for students and I will recognize each individual birthday...even half birthdays:) That being said, per our district policy, invitations are not to be handed out at school unless there is one for every student in the class. In addition, no food of any kind is allowed to be sent to school for birthdays or parties. You are more than welcome to send a non-food item (pen, pencil ,etc.) for each student in class. We have 26 students in our homeroom (block 1) and 22 students in block 2. Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.
