Week at a Glance: November 11th- 15th
*Reading:📚
EQ: What causes change?
This week students will read the book, “Climate Change,” and review main idea & supporting details, context clues and nonfiction text features. Our summative assessment will be on Thursday, November 14th. On Friday we will kick off our biography study by learning about Amanda Gorman and watching her inspirational speech!
*Math:📊
Module 2 - Place Value and Problem Solving with Units of Measure
This week we will continue Module 2 - “Place Value and Problem Solving with Units of Measure." We will review and then take the End Module Assessment on Tuesday, November 12th. The rest of the week we will start Module 3.
*Writing:📝
Students will continue our new unit - Research Simulation Informational Writing. This week we will write our essay about the Great Chicago Fire.
*Science:🧪
We will continue our unit - Weather & Climate. We will complete our next Mystery Science Lesson 3 - Local Weather Patterns.
*Governor Pat Quinn signed Erin's Law in January of 2013, which requires all schools in the state of Illinois to provide age appropriate sexual abuse and assault awareness and prevention education programs for students in grades Pre-K through 12. Our lessons 3rd grade students will begin the week of February 1st. The Chelsea Intermediate School Social Workers will be teaching each lesson in the child’s classroom. The "Think First and Stay Safe" program will be the curriculum utilized for these lessons with a focus on Child Lures.
