WELCOME TEAM 8B!!
Hello Team 8B!
I am Ms. Tania Wilson, the Honors ELA teacher on Team 8B. I am a graduate of Illinois State University, and major was in Junior High/Middle School Education. I earned my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from National Louis University. This is my 21st year teaching--my 13th year here at Hickory Creek.
I have two children. My son is a freshman at Illinois State University and is studying special education. My daughter is a sophomore in high school and loves dancing, singing, and acting. They keep me busy, and I'm sure I'll share many stories about them throughout the year.
I am writing a quick blurb about selecting novels to read: In an effort to build passionate readers, we continue to build classroom libraries in which students have choice over the texts they select. There may be books in libraries that are identified by publishers as “young adult” due to the fact that our students are young adults. With that being said, “young adult” books are considered appropriate for up to 18 years of age. Please discuss with your children any parameters that you would like for them to follow as they choose texts from our classrooms.
I am looking forward to an exciting school year! Please reach out if you have any questions, concerns, and/or celebrations! We are in this together!
